All current kindergartners and all children who will be entering kindergarten in Newton in the fall of 2012 are welcome to sign up. The program is an introduction to soccer and the focus will be on fun and developing confidence. The teams will be small and each session will include drills and a scrimmage.
Kindergarten Soccer will meet on 8 Saturday mornings, April 14 – June 16 (except April 21 and May 26) at Richardson Field, located between Beethoven and Allen Avenues. June 23 is reserved for a rain date. A few games are also on the Zervas School playing field. Kindergartners will play from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and pre-kindergartners will play from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The program is open to all children in Newton. Children must be accompanied by an adult – this is not a drop-off program. Kindergarten Soccer is run by parent volunteers and we need parents to help as coaches and assistant coaches. No previous knowledge of soccer is required. So if you are interested in signing up your child, consider signing up yourself as well! The fee for Kindergarten Soccer is $60. (Financial assistance is available and is confidential). Your child will receive a team t-shirt, as well as a medal or trophy at the end of the program. Every child must bring a size 3 soccer ball and wear shin guards each week. You may order this equipment through our program. The deadline to submit your registration is March 1, 2012. Refunds (minus a $10 administrative fee) will be provided until May 1, 2012. Enrollment is limited and handled on a first-come first-served basis. You will be contacted by a coach a couple of days prior to the first session.
