Kindergarten Soccer meets on 8 Saturday mornings, April 25 - June 20 (except 5/23) at Richardson Field, located between Beethoven and Allen Avenues (just beyond Zervas School). A few games are also on the Zervas School playing field. Kindergartners will play from 9:15 to 10:15, and pre-kindergartners will play from 10:45 to 11:45. All current kindergarten students and children who will be entering kindergarten in Newton in the fall of 2009 are invited to participate. The program is an introduction to soccer and the focus is on fun and developing confidence. The teams are small and each session includes drills and a scrimmage. Your child will receive a team t-shirt, as well as a medal or trophy at the end of the program. Every child must bring a size 3 soccer ball and wear shin guards each week. You may order this equipment through our program. If you ordered this equipment through our program, the equipment will be delivered on the first day. You will be contacted by a coach the week prior to the first session. If soccer is cancelled because of weather on a Saturday morning, we will email all participating families and post a message on this site. If the City of Newton closes the fields, then Kindergarten Soccer is cancelled, regardless of weather. You can check the city's field conditions here or call (617)796-1536 for the field use hotline. Click here for Directions and Field Map Kindergarten Soccer is run by parent volunteers and we need parents to help as coaches and assistant coaches. No previous knowledge of soccer is required. So if you are interested in signing up your child, consider signing up yourself as well! Parent coaches are assigned to their own child's team. Enrollment is limited and handled on a first come first serve basis. You will be contacted by a coach the week prior to the first session. Late registrations may be accepted on a space available basis and are subject to a $10 late fee. The registration deadline is March 31. We encourage everyone to register online. When your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from Active.com. If you don't receive the confirmation email, or if you are not asked for credit card information, please contact us to be sure that you are properly registered.
